JUAN MANUEL CASERO ORTIZ
Playwright and stage director
Sant Julià de Loria (Andorra)

Bio

Juanma Casero was born in Tomelloso in 1979. He enrolled on a business degree at 18 but left and moved to Madrid, where he studied theatre, acting and directing.

He began his career in several theatre companies, while also starting his teaching activity as head of studies in different schools. He has been assistant director at the Centro Dramático Nacional and presented his productions at festivals in Spain and abroad: Ireland, Venezuela and Russia.

In 2017, he moved to Andorra thanks to actress and educator Irina Robles. Since then, he has worked with Escena Nacional d'Andorra and, together with Robles, founded L'Animal Escola de Teatre, focused on teaching acting and stage creation. Together they also promote the Jove Companyia Nacional d'Andorra, a project dedicated to giving a voice and space to the country's young talents.

Project

At Faberllull, Juanma Casero will explore new dramatical lines beyond conventional structures, with the aim of investigating the text as an autonomous scenic subject. With the work El risc de la veritat (The Risk of Truth) (tentative title), he proposes a play with young performers from Andorra, designed for the 2026 season of FERESTEC, in Escaldes. The text narrates the meeting of a group of friends during a total eclipse, an event that triggers vital and irreversible decisions. Casero, usually linked to classical structures and functional writings on commission, here faces a change of register, one that is riskier and more committed to the younger generations.
