Gaborone, Botswana

A certified Records Analyst (CRA), Shadreck Bayane works for the Botswana Investment & Trade Centre (BITC) in Gaborone, Botswana, as a Records Specialist. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Archival Science from the University of South Africa (Unisa). His current research, as part of the international scholarly project InterPARES AI, is focused on archives, digitization, and artificial intelligence. Shadreck serves in the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM)’s editorial committee as an International Correspondent. His previous research projects include A Survey of Church Archives in Botswana funded by the UK-based Endangered Archives Programme (EAP).

Members of the collective project group will work together on research for their InterPARES study “Model for an AI-Assisted Digitization Project” (RA03). They will finalize a visual model for describing the functions and activities of a digitization project, based on best practices and standards, with particular attention to potential interventions of AI in digitization processes. They will also refine their literature review on related topics and analyse the results of a survey on AI and digitization, which they intend to publish and circulate in February 2023.
