Professor and translator
Barcelona (Catalonia)

Born in Manlleu (Catalonia) in 1962, he studied Classical Philology at the Universitat de Barcelona. In 1988 he moved to Berlin, where he worked as a journalist, translator and teacher. In 1995 he came back to Barcelona, and since then he is professor for translation at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He has translated a big number of literary works from german, french and italian into catalan, such as novels, essays and poetry by Verne, Rilke, Brecht, Buzzati, Bernhard, Enzensberger and Jelinek among others. He has also published several books with his own poetry and prose. In 2016 he was awarded with the Prize for Literary Translation of the catalan PEN-Club for his version of Bettine von Arnim's letters to Goethe.

I will coordinate a workshop on translation german-catalan and catalan-german.
