LAURA OBRADORS NOGUERA
From Friday, 23 September 2022 to Friday, 30 September 2022
Bio
Born in Navàs (Catalonia) in 1988, Laura studied Translation and Interpreting at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with a focus on Conference Interpreting. For the last ten years, she has been a lecturer at various universities in Catalonia and in Germany, where she has been living since 2015. In parallel, she has always worked as a freelance translator and interpreter from English and German into Catalan and Spanish. Since 2017, Laura has also translated literature, mainly children’s books and young adult novels, as well as journalistic publications. She cofounded a small company providing language services in 2020.
Laura sees herself as a friendly being who often goes for walks with her dog and stares at maps of all kinds. She likes writing and drawing and is deeply fascinated by the Russian language.
Project
During my stay at Faberllull, I will take part in the ViceVersa translation workshop dedicated to the literary translation between German and Catalan, two languages deeply rooted in my heart – one being my home and the other a welcoming shelter. I expect to meet colleagues with whom to talk about language and culture, and to reveal —if possible— that which the workshop promises: the secrets of literary translation.
