Bio

Maria Sisternas is co-founder of Mediaurban, the Mediapro Agency for the Urban Content of the Mediapro Group. She is an expert in urban transformation, specializing in the links between digital, social, economic and legal issues that contribute to the development of contemporary cities. She has extensive experience in the field of urban design and consultancy, with a strong focus on innovation and technologies applied to Smart Cities and urban projects. She currently manages a multidisciplinary team made up of experts with a strong background in the management and development of urban projects in the public and institutional sphere. She has served as Urban Habitat Projects Director at the City Council of Barcelona, between 2011 and 2015. She holds a Master’s in City Design and Social Sciences from the London School of Economics and is a regular contributor to the Diari Ara.

Project

I study public policies that make housing affordable in European cities; the provision of public land for the housing park, the financing through the ordinary budgets, the national, regional and local competitions, the new types of housing, and the contribution of the Third Sector. In particular, I am interested in the public-private pacts that make possible the balance of burdens and benefits between cities and the construction sector.
