Julieta Rosell Presents Curtain Research to Interior Design Students
Artist Julieta Rosell (Buenos Aires, Argentina) gave a talk to third-year students of the interior design degree at the Olot School of Art. Ms Rosell explained her research work Cover, which focuses on studying curtains from a sociological standpoint.
For her, curtains are a blend of the utilitarian and decorative, a mix of functionality and ornamentation. A curtain can hide a wall or create a non-existent one. It can be used to obscure something, but at the same time make people more keen to look at it.
The Argentine artist explained her artistic research work and posed questions to the students to reflect on the purpose of art and design and how they complement each other.
Julieta Rosell is a visual artist, writer and curator. She will be at Faberllull until 24 November to develop Cover, a theoretical and visual study on the materiality of curtains and their significance as a dividing element between public and private, intimate and social, where functionality and ornament converge.
