Helena Mateos-Serna Presents Board Game 'Partida' at Can Trincheria

Set designer Helena Mateos-Serna (Mallorca, 2001) has presented the board game Partida, which focuses on the search for the identity of women shot dead by fascists in Mallorca during the Spanish Civil War. The event took place at the Can Trincheria hall in Olot on Wednesday evening, in collaboration with the Patronat d'Estudis Històrics d'Olot i Garrotxa local history association. The creation process was presented and images and objects displayed to explain what the game consists of, how it is played and why it matters.

To create Partida, Ms Mateos-Serna leveraged the tools afforded by games, since they serve as a universal language and at the same time can take a less serious approach to the subject than sometimes occurs. The worlds of games and forensic anthropology are combined to explain part of our history.

Helena Mateos-Serna will be staying at the Faberllull residence in Olot to work on the game until 24 November.
