Òmnium Garrotxa Hosts Dialogue with Catalan Study Association Representatives
Why do a Mexican, a German and a Chinese person study Catalan? What are the dangers and opportunities for Catalan in the world? How is the Catalan language seen from other countries? What role should Catalan play in a globalised world? Representatives of the different Catalan study associations reflected on these and other matters in a dialogue with the public who attended the Òmnium Garrotxa headquarters in Olot on Thursday evening.
The activity is part of the first meeting of Catalan study associations being held at the Faberllull residence this week. The residence features representatives from the Anglo-Catalan Society (UK and Ireland), the Association Française des Catalanistes (France), the Associazione Italiana di Studi Catalani (Italy), the Deutscher Katalanistenverband (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and the North American Catalan Society (US and Canada), as well as the Associació Internacional de Llengua i Literatura Catalanes (AILLC), the Associació de Joves Investigadors en Llengua i Literatura Catalanes (AJILLC) and the Societat d’Ensenyament i Recerca del Català com a Llengua Estrangera (SERCLE).
